What is power raking?

Overtime your lawn will accumulate layers of yellowish decomposing organic matter. These layers are often referred to as "thatch." Although minimal amounts of thatch can be a good thing for your turf, an excess of thatch can negatively impact your turf's overall health and drastically affect your lawn's ability to flourish. Large amounts of thatch can reduce the effectiveness of fertilizers, decrease the ability of water and nutrients to penetrate into the soil, and can even act as a form of sustanance for common lawn pests.

The power raking process is a key tool when attempting to control thatch and is instrumental in obtaining a lawn that looks green and healthy throughout the growing season.

What you get with power raking

Our staff members will come to your property and power rake your turf by walking back and forth in a pattern similar to that which is used when cutting the lawn with a lawnmower. The crew will use a commercial grade power rake designed solely for the purpose of removing thatch. This equipment is far superior to lawn mower attachments or removing the thatch by hand raking alone.

Once the power rake has lifted the layers of organic matter up to the surface (on top of the grass), our crew will hand rake the dead organic matter into numerous piles and in doing so remove any additional remnants. All of these dead grass piles will then be bagged or appropriately disposed of. Finally our staff will blow off any drives or walkways to ensure that your property is left looking immaculate.
